Wednesday night, a bipartisan coalition of Senators rejected the nomination of David Weil, Joe Biden’s pick to oversee the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour division.

Weil’s history of putting in place frivolous regulations while in the Obama Administration is well known, and the 59 million American workers his nomination threatened was too much for most Senators to stomach.

This bipartisan coalition included three Democrat Senators! Which begs the question: How can someone who is too radically liberal even for some Democrat Senators get the support of vulnerable Senators like Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Michael Bennet??

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Last night, President Biden’s nomination of David Weil failed with bipartisan opposition.  The embarrassing defeat should not have been surprising given Weil’s record.  What’s more surprising is that some of the most vulnerable members of the Senate decided to go along with Chuck Schumer and vote for someone who would kill jobs across the country as our economy recovers.  Once again, Democrats are proving to voters that they have no intentions of fixing the economic problems they created.”
