Even in retirement, former Nevada Senator Harry Reid cannot help himself from leading Democrats down a path they will come to regret. In an op-ed published today in the Las Vegas Sun, Reid called upon his former colleagues to abolish the Senate’s legislative filibuster in order to jam through their radical, far-Left agenda.

Harry Reid’s Senate protégé Catherine Cortez Masto is now in a tough spot. In 2017, when Republicans led the White House, Senate, and House, Cortez Masto joined a letter with 60 of her Senate colleagues calling on Senate leadership to preserve the legislative filibuster:

“We are mindful of the unique role the Senate plays in the legislative process, and we are steadfastly committed to ensuring that this great American institution continues to serve as the world’s greatest deliberative body. Therefore, we are asking you to join us in opposing any effort to curtail the existing rights and prerogatives of Senators to engage in full, robust, and extended debate as we consider legislation before this body in the future.”

But earlier this year she hedged from her 2017 stance and warmed up to the idea of eliminating the filibuster. Why the flip-flop? Perhaps fake moderate Catherine Cortez Masto is worried about losing support from the radical Democrats she is depending on at the polls in 2022.

Will Catherine Cortez Masto follow her mentor’s radical path, or will she keep up the fake moderate charade?

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “With the filibuster back in the spotlight, Catherine Cortez Masto’s attempt at being a fake moderate will quickly come to an end. Nevadans will clearly see how Cortez Masto is a puppet for Harry Reid and Democrats’ efforts to pass an extreme, far-Left agenda.”
