U.S. Senate unanimously adopted U.S. Sen. John Barrasso’s (R-WY) budget amendment to prohibit legislation or regulations that implement the Green New Deal. The amendment was adopted by a vote of 99 to zero. This is the second time the Green New Deal has received zero votes in the Senate.

“Senate Democrats are running from the Green New Deal,” Barrasso said. “The entire Senate has now rejected these failed ideas. While trying to ram their reckless tax and spending spree through Congress, not a single Democrat voted to support the Green New Deal. Just last night, Senator Markey said ‘the Green New Deal is in the DNA of this budget.’ Today, he voted for my amendment to stop its implementation.

“It’s no wonder Senate Democrats are hiding from this socialist scheme. It would bankrupt our nation and give the government complete control of our economy. It’s a Green New Disaster that our nation cannot afford.”
