Palmetto Gun Rights is calling on Senator Tim Scott to rescind his endorsement of anti-gun incumbent U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).
“While gun owners are struggling to protect our freedoms on the national level, our own Senator Tim Scott is serving to upend those efforts by endorsing anti-gun Lisa Murkowski of Alaska,” said Tommy Dimsdale, Legislative Director of Palmetto Gun Rights. “He needs to immediately rescind that endorsement and next time lobby his colleague to support the Second Amendment when it comes under attack from Joe Biden and the Democrats in the D.C. Swamp.”
Last week South Carolina U.S. Senator Tim Scott endorsed Lisa Murkowski for reelection stating, “We need strong leaders like Lisa Murkowski – someone who has worked tirelessly for the people of Alaska…”
Sen. Murkowski has actively voted against the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Alaskans – not representing their interests or constitutional right to keep and bear arms in Congress.
Recently she voted for the largest gun control expansion in 30 years – Senate Bill 2938 which included:
- Taxpayer-funded grants for states with “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation.
- Enhanced NICS Gun Registration targeted at 18 to 20-year-olds –subjecting young adults who want to purchase a firearm to a gauntlet of bureaucratic red tape and further enhancing the NICS gun registry.
“Why would Tim Scott actively encourage pro-gun Republicans to rally around someone who doesn’t support our right to keep and bear arms? Sen. Scott needs to immediately drop his endorsement of Sen. Murkowski and apologize for backing an anti-gun Republican who votes with the Democrats and against the Second Amendment,” concluded Dimsdale.
Alaska’s Primary Election occurs next week on August 16th with Sen. Murkowski seeking to defend her seat and head to the General Election in November.
