U.S. Senator Ben Sasse condemned Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s cowardly remarks discouraging athletes from speaking out against China’s human rights abuses at the 2022 Olympics.
“The Chinese Communist Party is just thrilled that the Speaker of the House is encouraging athletes to self-censor. Speaker Pelosi missed the mark. Every American — Republican or Democrat, it doesn’t matter — should make this perfectly clear to Chairman Xi: If our athletes choose to call out your genocidal dictatorship, there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.”
