Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) called on Republicans to oppose the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) unless two unacceptable provisions are removed: drafting our daughters and red flag laws that threaten service members’ Second Amendment rights.
“We shouldn’t gamble with the lives of our wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters who wish not serve in the military, and why must we accept the premise that the only way to avoid an asinine policy of drafting women is to abolish the draft?,” the letter reads. “There may be good reasons to abolish the draft, but there is no reason to conflate the absurd (drafting women) with the debatable (having a draft or not).”
The letter also highlights the gun-grabbing red flag laws that will allow military and civil law enforcement to confiscate a serviceman’s firearms and prevent them from purchasing firearms commercially.
