Just weeks after congressional investigators alleged he used a private email account to avoid public disclosure laws, a congressional chairman alleges a key ally of former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci “deliberately obstructed” a congressional investigation into federal government’s in creating the COVID-19 virus.

U.S. House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OU) has issued a second subpoena to Dr. David Morens, described by the Subciommitte as “a top advisor to Dr. Anthony Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,”

This subpoena demands Morens appear before a May 22 congressional hearing.

“Dr. Morens will be asked to address new evidence suggesting he deliberately obstructed the Select Subcommittee’s investigations into the origins of COVID-19 to protect his former boss, Dr. Fauci,” the Subcommittee announced in a statement.

“In new emails obtained by the Select Subcommittee, Dr. Morens’s self-proclaimed ‘best friend’ — EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak — lays out the delay tactics Dr. Morens’s counsel intended to use to postpone Dr. Morens’s public testimony until after Dr. Fauci’s public hearing,” the Subcommittee states.

“Each day of delay helps,” Morens allegedly wrote in an Apirl 20, 2024 email. “They’re trying to book David in for a public hearing between mine (May 1st) and Fauci’s (June 3rd). David’s lawyers are trying to negotiate and delay his til after Tony,” Morens allegedly wrote.

“Only two days later, on April 22, 2024, Dr. Morens’s attorney followed this exact plan and told Select Subcommittee staff that Dr. Morens was ‘unavailable’ to appear for a public hearing on the offered date of May 7, 2024. The attorney provided four alternative dates — all of which Dr. Morens and his team seemingly understood to be unacceptable given the public Congressional and Select Subcommittee schedule,” the Subcommittee notes.

Dr. Morens’s evasion of public testimony “appears to be a poorly veiled attempt to protect Dr. Fauci, insulate him from the actions the Select Subcommittee is investigating, and obstruct the Select Subcommittee’s investigation,” wrote Wenstrup in a subpoena cover letter to Morens.

“This is the second subpoena the Select Subcommittee has announced for Dr. David Morens,” the Subcommittee notes, adding, “The first subpoena compelled Dr. Morens to produce documents from his personal email account(s) related to the origins of COVID-19 after repeated allegations that he violated federal records keeping laws.”
